There is not only a dining room and a kitchen, but also three unique rooms including a “KIMONO ROOM”, a “SAMURAI ROOM”, and a “ZEN ROOM”. It is an ideal accommodation for families and large groups (up to 7 people) to have a long-term stay in Kyoto.
Close from the subway station Marutamachi! In front of a bus stop! The best location with easy access to some famous places!
“Guesthouse Makotoya” is in the center of Kyoto. It is very close to the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Furthermore, you can go to the famous Nijo-jo Castle on foot. Subway station Marutamachi is 450 meters away, and you can walk to the city bus stop Futyoumae within 1 minute. Therefore, “Guesthouse Makotoya” has an excellent access to almost any tourist attractions in Kyoto.
Villa-like accommodation, a perfect fit for large family to have a longer stay in Kyoto.
For those who travel in large groups or with many family members, making room reservations could be a nightmare. There is the possibility that people have to reserve a lot of rooms which can be not only far away from one another but also costly. However, “Guesthouse Makotoya” provides the whole traditional townhouse in Kyoto, allowing members of a large group to stay in the same house and enjoy the precious time together.
Furthermore, “Guesthouse Makotoya” has comfortable beddings and many electrical appliances. In the kitchen and dining room (which is a separated room from bedrooms), there are enough cooking instruments and tableware. When you are having a longer stay in Kyoto, in nearby super markets you may get some Kyoto-style home cooking dishes or fresh local vegetables, then cook and enjoy the food in the guesthouse. When you go around the city, it is convenient to have the free pocket wifi provided by “Guesthouse Makotoya”. Feel free to use it!
Enjoy the real art works of Kyoto decorated in “Guesthouse Makotoya”
To provide a better experience staying in Kyoto, “Guesthouse Makotoya” decorated the rooms with two antique Kyo-Yuzen kimonos made approximately 70 years ago as well as Nishijin brocade as the interior. Those precious art works and the techniques to make them are so sophisticated that it is impossible to duplicate them at the present time. By all means, please feel free to enjoy them up close when you are staying in “Guesthouse Makotoya”.
The interior in “Guesthouse Makotoya” is carefully selected by professionals. They are all antique masterpieces of Kyo-Yuzen kimono and Nishijin brocade. In our guesthouse, we have a Kimono Gallery at the entrance hall on the first floor. During the check in, as one of the free services, guests can wear the Haori jacket (the coat of Kosode kimono) and have photos taken. Also, inside the guesthouse (not outside), guests can wear the kimonos from our Kimono Gallery any time they want. Of course you can take all the photos you want wearing the kimonos in “Guesthouse Makotoya” and sharing with your friends and family members, or even upload to your SNS accounts if you want. If you have friends who also love kimono, you can enjoy wearing them together.
